Artists

Suede

Suede are an English alternative rock band. Formed in London in 1989, the group’s most prominent early line-up featured singer Brett Anderson, guitarist Bernard Butler, bass player Mat Osman and drummer Simon Gilbert. By 1992, Suede were hailed as “The Best New Band in Britain”, and attracted much attention from the British music press. The following year their glam rock-inspired debut album, Suede, went to the top of the charts and became the fastest-selling debut album in almost ten years, helping kick-start the Britpop movement. However, the band’s lush follow-up, Dog Man Star (1994), saw Suede distance themselves from their Britpop peers. Although it is often regarded as the band’s masterpiece, the recording sessions for Dog Man Star were fraught with difficulty, and ended with Butler departing the band after heated arguments with Anderson.

In 1996 following the recruitment of Richard Oakes and later keyboardist Neil Codling, Suede went on to greater commercial success with Coming Up. The album charted at number one in the UK, producing five top ten singles and became their biggest-selling album worldwide. After the release of the B-sides compilation Sci-Fi Lullabies in 1997, Anderson became addicted to crack and heroin. Despite problems within the band, Suede’s fourth album Head Music (1999) was a British chart-topper. Suede’s final album, A New Morning (2002), their first after the collapse of Nude Records, was a commercial disappointment. In 2003, after the release of the Singles compilation, Suede disbanded. After much speculation Suede reformed in 2010 for a series of concerts.

Taio Cruz

Adetayo Ayowale Onile-Ere[1] (born 23 April 1983), better known by his stage name Taio Cruz is an English singer, songwriter and music producer. In 2008 he released his debut album Departure. Written, arranged and produced by himself, it achieved initial success in the United Kingdom and earned him a MOBO Award nomination.

In June 2010, he released his follow up album Rokstarr, which includes his UK and U.S. #1 single “Break Your Heart” and the second single “Dynamite” which reached number two in the United States, number one in the United Kingdom, Australia, Belgium, Canada, Ireland and New Zealand, and top ten in most other countries. In 2011 Cruz released “Higher”, a collaboration with Kylie Minogue and Travie McCoy.

2PM

2PM is a South Korean boy band, originally a seven-member group, but currently consisting of six members due to the sudden contract termination of leader Jaebeom following an Internet controversy in September 2009. They are managed by JYP Entertainment. The current members are Junsu, Junho, Nichkhun, Taecyeon, Wooyoung and Chansung.

2PM is one of the two subgroups branched out from the eleven-member (before Jaebeom’s departure) boy band One Day, the other being 2AM. They debuted with the song “10 Jeom Manjeome 10 Jeom” (10점 만점에 10점, lit. 10 Points Out of 10 Points), which showcased their acrobatic dance styles. They achieved their first No. 1 song with “Again & Again”.

Shontelle

Shontelle Layne (born October 4, 1985), known professionally as Shontelle, is a singer and songwriter from Barbados. She released her debut album Shontelligence in November 2008. Her second album, No Gravity, was released in September 2010.

When Shontelle made the decision to attend the University of the West Indies she chose to pursue a degree in entertainment law. She has reaped the benefits of this decision to this day and credits her time studying law with opening her mind to different subjects and ultimately feeding her creative process. As Shontelle says “The next couple of years moved really fast”.Barbados-based music manager Sonia Mullins took the young writer-performer under her wing at this time , and Shontelle began to carve a reputation in the Caribbean music world by crafting songs for a number of top artists, all while attending the University.

Fast forward to 2005, and the up and coming talent scores a hit heard far beyond the Caribbean as the writer of the girl-power anthem “Roll”. Producers Evan Rogers and Carl Sturken of SRP Records, who had discovered Rihanna in Barbados and brought her to the world stage, heard the song on a Bajan radio station and felt that it had international hit potential. They sought out the writer of the song to license it for a cover version, and had a pleasant shock; “We couldn’t believe that she was such a great singer and so young and beautiful, and hadn’t been discovered yet” says Rogers. They signed her immediately, and spent the next six
